Say hi: matt@mjwest.co.uk
Hi, I’m Matt, a content creative & director.
With over 20 years experience in the creative industry, I have worked as a filmmaker and content creator – writing concepts and directing shoots around the world for a variety of clients. My time has also covered typography, brand design, graphic design, 2D animation and motion graphics.
I have worked for a number of creative agencies in full time positions – lead designer, design director, producer, film director, editor and creative director. With each role having the same focus, to create engaging work for the client, whether that’s me working hands on, or directing and managing a team.
During my time freelancing, I worked with clients directly (forming my own teams in a kind of agency set up), as well as within production companies, ad agencies and design studios. As a filmmaker with extensive experience in graphic design, I have often been able to utilise the different skill sets for the benefit of the client, and for the process. With a collaboration mind set coming naturally, connecting with the broader creative teams.

My work has proudly gained recognition across design and film. After creating a brand and promotional editorial designs for a paper company, I was awarded a membership at the International Society of Typographic Designers, a membership only given on the merit of work. And I have enjoyed my short films featuring in film festivals, with cinema screenings – which is always a great honour.
I have extensive experience directing shoots, and managing crews and productions around the world. With experience working across Europe, in Canada, USA, South Korea and China.
Away from commercial work, my love of creative endeavours continues into the art space where I shoot photographic portraits in a very unique style. I also put some focus into running a men`s mental health awareness campaign – this is built around the idea of creativity being used to help people process and express their thoughts. Something I am very proud of.
